About Angela Chadwick
Perinatal Psychologist & Trauma Therapist

Hi, I’m Angela. Nice to meet you.

I approach therapy with both humanity and clinical precision. Each person’s story is unique, and I take the time to understand yours in depth. I don’t offer one-size-fits-all strategies or quick fixes. Instead, we work to identify and process the underlying memories, beliefs, and nervous system patterns contributing to your distress, with the aim of supporting meaningful and sustainable change.

I am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner with the EMDR Association of Australia (EMDRAA) and am currently progressing toward Consultant Accreditation. In addition to my trauma training, I have completed comprehensive education in perinatal and infant mental health and perinatal bereavement with the Centre for Perinatal Psychology. This combination allows me to hold the psychological and developmental complexities of pregnancy, early parenting, and trauma with care, clarity, and clinical precision.

I also bring lived experience to my work. I am a parent, and I have navigated the highs and lows of parenthood myself. I understand the vulnerability and intensity that can come with these life transitions, as well as the challenge of juggling family, work, and self-care.

I welcome diversity in every form and aim to create a safe, inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming space for all clients — regardless of gender, ability, neurotype, or sexuality. My approach is grounded in current trauma research and emphasises both relational safety and thoughtful, evidence-informed treatment tailored to your needs.

If you’re ready to explore the deeper layers of your experiences and work with a clinician who combines trauma expertise with perinatal insight, I would be honoured to support you.

My approach is deliberate, tailored, and grounded in research, ensuring therapy is both safe and effective.

Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch another human soul, be a human soul.

Therapeutic Modalities

Therapies I’m trained in:

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Attachment Informed EMDR (ai-EMDR)

  • Resource Therapy (Parts Therapy)

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Schema Therapy

These therapies provide a framework for understanding and healing distress. I see myself primarily as an EMDR therapist. But my approach is integrative —I integrate different therapeutic methods that are best suited to you as an individual.

I offer both in-person sessions (Fairy Meadow, NSW) and Telehealth appointments Australia-wide. I’m comfortable and confident delivering therapy via Zoom, with years of experience in this format.

I may be the right therapist for you if you have experienced:

  • That fills you with feelings such as fear, shock, disbelief, worry, guilt, shame or self blame.

  • This could include being a victim of crime, exposure to natural disaster, or a stressful medical event.

  • This could include emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and/or physical abuse.

  • Interactions and events related to childbirth that cause overwhelming emotional distress.

  • That impact your capacity to be the parent that you would like to be.

  • Including Postnatal Anxiety, Postnatal Depression, mood difficulties while pregnant, emotional difficulties adjusting to parenthood.

  • Including low-mood and persistent sadness.

  • Absorbing others' pain in times of their distress so deeply that it affects your own well-being (i.e., Healthcare Workers or Emergency services personnel)

My Approach

Therapy with me is:

  • Structured but not rigid

  • Emotionally attuned without being overwhelming

  • Depth-oriented while remaining grounded and practical

I do not take a one-size-fits-all approach to trauma or perinatal care. My work sits at the intersection of advanced EMDR practice, attachment-informed therapy, and specialist perinatal mental health training.

For many women, especially during pregnancy or the postnatal period, earlier relational experiences and trauma histories can quietly resurface. Addressing this thoughtfully — with pacing, precision, and respect for vulnerability — is central to how I practise.

Perinatal & Second-Time Motherhood Support

I have a particular interest in supporting women who are entering pregnancy or early motherhood for a second time following a difficult first pregnancy, birth, or postnatal experience.

Subsequent pregnancies often reactivate earlier trauma, attachment wounds, anxiety, or unresolved birth experiences. Identity shifts can feel sharper. Vulnerability can feel more confronting. Old relational patterns may resurface unexpectedly.

I work at this intersection of trauma and perinatal mental health — helping you make sense of what is being activated, stabilise your nervous system, and process what needs to be resolved so that this chapter can feel steadier and more integrated.

“I believe that every single one of us has periods of time where we need some extra support, care and understanding, and that part of the human condition is to struggle, and no one is immune from experiencing tough seasons in life.”
